Features / At the counter

The drawer and the shelf land in one report.

Retail and till management puts soap, snacks, vending and your supported tender types on the same register that runs your wash-dry-fold.

Attendants ring retail items from department buttons, take cash, card, check, store credit, gift card, on-account or pay-at-pickup, and count the drawer at the end of the shift on screen. What sold and what is in the till reconcile against each other instead of against a notepad.

Without one register

A cash box is not a register.

Plenty of stores sell soap, bleach, snacks and hangers out of a drawer with no record of what left the shelf. The money mostly shows up. Whether all of it did is impossible to check, because there is nothing to check it against.

Add drop-off orders paid three different ways and a shift change in the middle, and the day’s numbers become an estimate.

What the shelf and the drawer look like kept apart:

  • 01Retail sales that were never rung up at all
  • 02A drawer that is short and no way to tell which shift it happened on
  • 03Inventory counted by looking at the shelf
  • 04Card, cash and account sales tallied separately by hand
  • 05Pay-at-pickup orders that get handed over without collecting

How it works

One register for the shelf, the drop-off and the drawer.

Retail is not a separate system bolted next to the laundry system. It is the same screen, the same customer record and the same end-of-day close.

Step 01

Build your departments

Group what you sell into departments and item buttons, and change a price or add an item from any computer without touching the register.

Step 02

Ring the sale

Retail items and wash-dry-fold go on the same ticket, attached to the customer when there is one.

Step 03

Take any tender

Cash, credit card, check, store credit, loyalty card, gift card, on account or pay at pickup depending on how the store is configured, with the balance remaining shown as the attendant works.

Step 04

Close the drawer

Count the till by denomination on screen and the system compares it against expected cash for the shift, by attendant.

The Wash-Dry-Fold POS tender screen with cash, credit card, check, store credit, loyalty card, on account and pay at pickup buttons alongside a keypad and the amount remaining.
The supported tender types on one screen, with the amount remaining updating as the attendant splits a payment.
The Wash-Dry-Fold POS retail screen showing departments down one side and item buttons for products the laundromat sells.
Retail departments and item buttons, laid out the way your shelf is, so ringing a soap sale takes one tap.

What changes

What the store gets out of it.

Once every dollar goes through the register, the drawer stops being a guess and starts being something you can check.

End of shift

Shortages get a name and a time

The drawer is counted against expected cash per shift and per attendant, so a discrepancy points somewhere instead of nowhere.

On the shelf

Inventory you can actually track

What sold is recorded as it sells, so reordering comes off a report rather than off a walk down the aisle.

End of day

One set of numbers

Retail, drop-off and account payments roll into the same daily totals, broken out by tender type and by store.

Because the register handles both the shelf and the laundry, retail shows up next to wash-dry-fold in the same daily totals instead of living in a separate notebook.

This system has made ownership much easier! I can get reports for each attendant and much easier to get reports I need to make real time decisions! Keeps better track of inventory than paper and pencil.

My wife and I put this system in our laundromat about 3 months ago. We are still finding new ways to help improve our effectiveness with our customers. We are so pleased with the system and all the new updates that have helped greatly to better serve our customers!

“Free Time” who wants some? This system has made more time for me. No more hand written laundry tickets with poor illegible writing that get lost.

I can pull up billing from my home computer or at the laundry. I can see exactly what was sold or what needs to be ordered. I can pull time sheets from the computer. I don’t have to go to the laundries to collect time cards or add them up any more. I can change prices or add new item tabs all with a click of a button.

I can see who is on the clock at each location and see just how busy they are with the order tracker. I can see which employee is completing the most laundry orders. This system is really the jack of all trades.

WDF POS was created by a laundromat owner with multiple stores that also have a robust drop off business. With such a depth of understanding of the business, it is no wonder WDF POS fits our high volume needs perfectly.

The cloud-based system was easy for our employees to learn and our customers appreciate the smoothness and professionalism of transactions. Training and customer service are the best around. New features are continually being added, and they are very responsive to feedback. I highly recommend it!

Questions

What owners ask about retail and tills.

  • What does till management mean in a laundromat POS?

Till management is the part of a laundromat POS that controls the cash drawer: which attendant is on it, what the system expects to be in it and what is actually counted at the end of the shift. In Wash-Dry-Fold POS the drawer is counted by denomination on screen and compared against expected cash for that shift, so a shortage is narrowed to a shift and a window of time, and to an individual attendant when tills are assigned individually.

  • Can one attendant’s drawer be separated from another’s?

Yes. Tills can be assigned per attendant or shared as one drawer for the day. With individual tills, cash is counted against expected cash for that shift, so a shortage is narrowed to one attendant and one window of time rather than to the day as a whole.

  • Can I choose when a shift closes?

Yes. The shift closes when you decide it does, and Wash-Dry-Fold POS was built around that from the start rather than locking every store into one daily close. Some laundromats run two totally separate shifts a day and count the till after the opening shift ends. Others run a mid shift and count once at the end of the day.

  • Can a customer split a payment?

Yes. The tender screen tracks the amount remaining as each tender is applied, so part cash and part card on the same ticket is normal.

  • Do I have to use your card processing?

No. Integrated processing is available in the same system, and stores that prefer their own terminal can keep running it alongside the register.

  • Does retail share a ticket with wash-dry-fold?

Yes. Soap, snacks, hangers and any other retail item go on the same ticket as the laundry, attached to the customer when there is one, and land in the same daily totals broken out by department and tender type.

  • Can I change a price or add an item without going to the store?

Yes. Departments, items and prices are configured from any computer, and the registers pick up the change. Nobody has to stand at the counter to edit a button.
