Features / Back office
Laundromat employee theft prevention built into the POS, built in real laundromats by owners who found out the hard way what walks out the door.
Weights come off an integrated scale instead of a keyboard. Card payments run through an integrated reader, so the amount charged comes off the order instead of being keyed into a separate terminal. Machine starts are timestamped and attributed. Drawer opens are logged, with the option to make the attendant say why. None of it accuses anybody. It just means the story the numbers tell can be checked.
at a glance
Without these controls
Wash-Dry-Fold POS was built in real laundromats, and these tools came out of what the owners running them actually ran into: machines started for friends and family without a sale, order weights adjusted to move a tip and the paperwork that would have shown either one going missing.
None of that is an accusation. A store with no record simply cannot tell the difference between a busy shift and a bad one, and the attendants doing the job right are the ones who end up under a cloud for it.
What a counter looks like with no record behind it:
How it works
Laundromat employee theft prevention in Wash-Dry-Fold POS is two halves: hardware and permissions that remove the easy openings, and reports that surface the rest.
The scale writes the weight straight onto the order and, with integrated card processing, the reader charges straight off it, so neither number is keyed at the counter.
Role-based employee permissions decide who can void an order, issue a refund, change a price or see the numbers, so the ability to do it is a decision you made rather than an accident.
Every drawer open is recorded with the employee and the time, with an option to require a written reason, and every machine start run through the order tracker is timestamped and tied to the order and the attendant who ran it.
Voids, refunds, cash payouts, open drawers, past shifts and machine start ratios each have their own report, and they are all filterable by employee, store and date range.
A machine start ratio is the number of machine starts an attendant ran measured against the orders and pounds they processed. It is worth watching, because free washes for friends inflate starts without moving pounds, and that gap shows up in the report long before anything else does.
What changes
Fewer openings while the shift is running, and a trail to read afterward.
Closing a shift means counting the till by denomination against the cash the system expected, so a shortage turns up that day rather than at the end of the month. Some stores close after the opening shift and run two totally separate shifts a day. Others run a mid shift and close once. You decide which.
Filter the void, open drawer and machine start reports to one employee and one date range, and you can see whether there is a pattern there or not.
A record moves the conversation from rumor to what was actually logged, which is a better place to start than a hunch.
These tools reduce opportunity and give you a trail. No point-of-sale system can make a store theft-proof, and we do not claim otherwise.
In owners’ words
Reviews left by Wash-Dry-Fold POS customers on their own stores and their own volume.
WDF POS is the best point of sale system in the laundromat industry… You can go in and edit / modify and create many different functions for employees and mostly the laundromat owners to utilize and manage employees / cash drawers / WnF.
I have tried four different POS systems for my laundromat. I’m sure I finally found my permanent solution. There simply is not a more complete solution built for laundromats anyplace in the market.
The wash dry fold functionality if truly exceptional. The reporting is beautiful in its simplicity while being complete. It has made my life SOOO much easier. I work a full time job and am able to monitor things completely.
Being a new laundromat owner, I can say this system is a life saver. To have the ability to serve our customers with precise weighing and receipts with personalization is the icing on the top.
The ability to have reports at your fingertips, as well as a timeclock system is just another perk. I can’t say enough on how awesome this POS system is.

Questions
Laundromat employee theft prevention software is the set of controls and records inside a laundromat POS that reduce the chance to take cash, free washes or unearned tips and leave a trail when someone does. In Wash-Dry-Fold POS that means an integrated scale, and integrated card processing so weights and payment amounts are not keyed by hand, role-based employee permissions, logged cash drawer opens with an optional written reason, timestamped tracking of the machine starts run through the order tracker, and void, refund, payout, shift and production reports that filter by employee, store and date range.
A machine start ratio compares the machine starts an attendant ran against the orders and pounds they actually processed. Washes run for friends without a sale raise the start count without raising the pounds, so a ratio that drifts away from the rest of the staff is worth a look.
Yes. The shift closes when you decide it does, and Wash-Dry-Fold POS was built around that from the start rather than locking every store into one daily close. Some laundromats run two totally separate shifts a day and count the till after the opening shift ends. Others run a mid shift and count once. Either way the cash is counted by denomination against what the system expected for that shift, so a shortage is tied to one attendant and one window of time.
Yes. Permissions decide who can discount, void, refund or change a price, and card payments run through an integrated reader rather than a separate terminal, so the amount charged matches the order.
Yes. Every drawer open is logged with the employee, the store and the time, and you can require the attendant to type a reason before it opens.
The permission levels and the reason prompt on the drawer are visible to them. The reports are yours. Telling staff the tracking exists is worth doing, since a control nobody knows about deters nobody.
Yes. The system is cloud-based, so every one of these reports opens in a browser on a computer, tablet or phone without being at the store.
